We are pleased to present the exhibition of Aleksandr Rodchenko, the hero of Russian avant-garde who came into sudden prominence, intensively experiencing the 1917 Russian Revolution.
The revolution not only affected politics and economics but extended to all aspects of daily life, society, and culture, and even to the world of art. Rodchenko, one of the leader of the revolutionary art movement, later known as the Russian avant-garde, eagerly applied his talents to various fields including sculpture, architecture, interior design, furniture, graphics, and photography. In every field, Rodchenko works apparently express his strong experimental desire. Our exhibition especially focuses on the daring and innovative graphics he created within a short period from around the Russian Revolution to the late 1920’s, and also his unique world of photography since 1924, adopting a technique called “perspective foreshortening”.
The 157 exhibits that include graphics both originals and prints, advertising posters, collages and photographs, are all selected from the valuable collection of Mr. Aleksandr Lavrentiev, the grandson of the great master. The exhibition highlights the essence of Rodchenko, the man who had the greatest influence to the 20th-century graphic design scene.

На выставке представлено более 150 его работ: фотографии, фотомонтажи, книжные и журнальные обложки, плакаты, эскизы для оформления коробок с печеньем, конфетных фантиков, рекламных щитов, образцы первых в СССР фирменных стилей - например, Резинотраста и ГУМа, которые Родченко разрабатывал с Маяковским.
